　　On October 19th, the 2024 Conference on Saline-alkali Land Comprehensive Utilization Technology Innovation was held in the Saline-Alkali LandAcademic Exchange Center in Agricultural High-tech Industrial Demonstration Area of the Yellow River Delta of Shandong Province. The conference, with the theme of “always bearing in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping’s trust, building a the national strategic scientific and technological strength for comprehensive utilization of saline-alkali land”, was jointly organized by the National Saline-alkali Land Comprehensive Utilization Technology Innovation Center and the National Saline-alkali Land Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance.

　　Yang Zhenhai, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Tang Huajun, Member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress, ViceChairman of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committeeof the 14th National People’s Congressand Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chen Ping, Vice Governor of Shandong Province, and Yang Guoqiang, Secretary of CPC Dongying Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC Working Committee of the Agricultural High-tech Industrial Demonstration Area of the Yellow River Delta of Shandong Province attended the conference. Yang Zhenhai, Chen Ping, and Yang Guoqiang delivered speeches.

　　Yang Zhenhai pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the comprehensive utilization of saline-alkali land, providing fundamental guideline and direction for winningthe “battle”of comprehensive utilization of saline-alkali land. As a national strategic force in agricultural science and technology, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences makes positive contributions to promoting the comprehensive utilization of saline-alkali land. In the next step, itwill take the promotion and construction of the National Technology Innovation Center for Comprehensive Utilization of Saline-Alkali Land as the main starting point to jointly build a scientific and technological innovation highland for the comprehensive utilization of saline-alkali land.

　　Chen Ping emphasized that Shandong is a major agricultural province, a major grain-producing province, as well asa major resourceprovince with abundant saline-alkali land andgreat potential for saline-alkali land comprehensive utilization. In recent years, Shandong Province has thoroughly implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions, making important contributions to the overall situation of stable production and sufficient supply of grain. In the next step, Shandong will,relying on the National Saline-alkali Land Comprehensive Utilization Technology Innovation Center, comprehensively enhance the level of self-reliance and self-improvement in saline-alkali land comprehensive utilization science and technology.

　　Yang Guoqiang stated that Dongying is an important supporting region for implementing the major national strategy for ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin, and an important modern energy base and emerging industrial city in China. In recent years, with the in-depth implementation of the important instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping in Dongying City, the national pilot project for comprehensive utilization of saline-alkali land and other arable land reserve resources has been solidly advanced with obvious results, and characteristic industries of saline-alkali land have flourished and grown rapidly. In the next step, Dongying will strengthen cooperation with academicians, experts, scientific research teams, and innovative enterprises to make new and greater contributions to guaranteeing national food security.

　　Chen Hongsheng, Deputy Director of the Department of Scientific and Technological Achievements Transformation and Promotion of the Ministry of Science and Technology, He Yibing, Second-Level Inspector of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Liang Jinguang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences delivered speeches; Zhu Yingkun, Deputy Secretary of CPC Working Committee and Executive Deputy Director of Administrative Committee of Agricultural High-tech Industrial Demonstration Area of the Yellow River Delta of Shandong Province presided over the conference.

　　At the conference, the launching ceremony forShandong ProvinceSaline-Alkali LandComprehensive UtilizationScience and Technology Demonstration Project was held; the Report on Development of Saline-Alkali Land Comprehensive Utilization Technology and the Report on Development of Saline-Alkali Land Characteristic Industry(Yellow River Estuary Rice) were released.

　　During the conference, the third meeting of the National Saline-alkali Land Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, the second meeting of the Council and Expert Committee of the National Saline-alkali Land Comprehensive Utilization Technology Innovation Center, the collaborative innovation promotion meeting, as well as activities such as the exhibition of achievements in comprehensive utilization of saline-alkali landand field visitswere organized.

　　Responsible leaders from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, responsible leaders from relevant provincial departments and units, responsible leaders and experts from the National Saline-alkali Land Comprehensive Utilization Technology Innovation Center and the National Saline-alkali Land Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, and relevant leaders from Dongying Cityand the Agricultural High-tech Industrial Demonstration Area of the Yellow River Delta of Shandong Province participated in the event.

　　Chen Ping also inspected the “autumn harvest, autumn sowing, and autumn land preparation”(Autumn Farming)workin Dongying, emphasizing the need to efficiently and orderly promote autumn grain harvesting and storage, and timely and properly carry out the subsequent work such as autumn sowing and winter managementto ensure a bumper harvest.
