The First World Indoor Kite Championship Kicks Off at the 2024 Weifang Kite Carnival

On the evening of October 19, the first World Indoor Kite Championship kicked off at the Weifang University Gymnasium as part of the 2024 Weifang Kite Carnival. President of the International Kite Federation Su Like attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Wang Qiang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Sports Bureau, was also present. Gao Feng, Director of the Standing Committee of Weifang Municipal People's Congress, announced the opening of the competition. Vice Mayor Di Bo delivered a speech, and Vice Dean Wang Chengduan from Weifang University attended the event.
Su Like, on behalf of the International Kite Federation, congratulated the organizers on the competition and expressed gratitude to friends from all walks of life who have long supported the development of the kite industry. Di Bo stated that Weifang is the hometown of kites, and kites serve as Weifang's business card. Hosting the first World Indoor Kite Championship has opened a new chapter for kite sports in Weifang. As the host, we must serve diligently, promote the Olympic spirit, and ensure effective organization and services for the event. We aim to present a simple yet extraordinary, exciting and memorable experience for the citizens, showcasing the unique charm of kite culture and kite sports.
The indoor kite championship, as a brand-new event in the kite sport, will showcase kite stage art, expand the forms of kite sports, lead the trend of kite development, and provide a richer cultural experience for domestic and international visitors. A total of 40 athletes from 9 countries and regions are participating in this championship, which includes 2 competitive events and 6 exhibition events.
