Shandong athletes shine at Asian Winter Games

Shandong athletes showcased their skill and determination, earning two gold, three silver, and one bronze medal at the 9th Asian Winter Games, which kicked off in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, on February 7.
Gong Li, who was born in Qingdao, Shandong province, clinched the gold medal in the short track speed skating women's 3,000-meter relay final, along with China's Fan Kexin, Zhang Chutong and Wang Xinran. This victory marks China's second short-track speed skating gold medal at this Asian Winter Games.
In the women's short-distance ski mountaineering final, Shandong athlete Yu Jingxuan won silver with a time of 2:59.84. After advancing from the preliminaries and securing a top position in the semifinals, she finished with a strong performance in the final. Next, she will compete in the mixed relay competition.
In the men's 5,000-meter short track relay final, Li Wenlong, an athlete from the Qingdao short track speed skating team, along with his teammates, secured a bronze medal. The event, a highlight of the short track competition, saw intense competition between China, South Korea, Japan, and Kazakhstan.
