Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information and other 13 related provincial departments recently jointly issued theAction Plan for the Inheritance, Innovation and High-quality Development of the Ceramics and Colored Glaze Industry. Centering on advanced ceramics for industrial use, consumer-grade fine ceramics and high-quality artistic colored glaze, Shandong aims to cultivate a number of domestically and internationally renowned brands with core competitiveness. The plan strives to see the province’s ceramic and colored glaze industry achieve an annual output value of approximately 40 billion yuan by 2027, thereby establishing an industrial ecosystem characterized by large scale, strong innovation capability, numerous well-known brands, and profound cultural heritage.
Shandong is a major production area of ceramics and colored glaze industry in China, and attaches great importance to the inheritance, innovation and transformation of the industry. In recent years, efforts have been made by the province on expanding the development of its advanced ceramics, facilitating daily-use ceramics, upgrading building and sanitary ceramics, and enhancing the reputation of artistic ceramics and glass. This involves significant initiatives in digital transformation, large-scale production, brand shaping and diversified expansion, which have promoted substantial progress in the ceramic and colored glaze industry in terms of scale, technological innovation and brand development.
Among these efforts, Zibocityhas over 800 ceramic andcolored glazeenterprises and is one of the most important production areas for advanced ceramics in China, as well as a trading center for ceramic tiles inthearea north of the Yangtze River. Its market share in high-end hotel ceramic products and daily-use glassware ranks first in the country, while itscolored glazemarket share reaches 70%. Linyicityhas 20 production lines for building ceramics and an annual output capacity of approximately 100 million square meters of ceramic tiles, with an international market share exceeding 20% in the daily-use ceramics segment. It has been recognized by the Ministry of Commerce as a “National Foreign Trade Transformation and Upgrading Base (Daily-Use Ceramics)”.
TheAction Planproposes to implement 14 key tasks in 7 aspects, including adhering to scientific and technological innovation, adhering to the driving role of digital and intelligent technologies, adhering to cluster-based development, adhering to brand cultivation, adhering to cross-industry integration, adhering to market development, and adhering to talent introduction and cultivation.
