The 29th Shandong-Taiwan Economic and Trade Fair Opens in Weifang

　　On the morning of September 2, the 29th Shandong-Taiwan Economic and Trade Fair officially opened in Weifang. Zhou Ning, Vice President of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, Deng Yunfeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and Vice Governor Song Junji attended the opening ceremony. Zhang Liansan, Director of the Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office; Sun Haisheng, Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology; Liu Yun, Secretary of the Weifang Municipal Party Committee; Liu Jianjun, Deputy Secretary of the Weifang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; Li Aijie, Chairman of the Weifang Municipal Committee of CPPCC, Guo Fei, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, and other relevant municipal leaders participated in the event.

　　Before the opening, Deng Yunfeng met with some of the attending guests in Weifang. He stated that Shandong is an ideal destination for Taiwanese businessmen and enterprises to invest and start businesses, and he encouraged them to strengthen confidence, focus on long-term development, and work together to promote integrated development between Shandong and Taiwan. In his speech at the conference, Song Junji said that Shandong will enhance Shandong-Taiwan cooperation in four areas: scientific and technological breakthroughs, industrial integration, project financing, and business-friendly services, to build consensus for integrated development. Liu Yun introduced Weifang's economic and social development, expressing his hope that Taiwan compatriots, entrepreneurs, and enterprises would start businesses in Weifang, continue exchanges and interactions, and share the benefits of economic cooperation.

　　At the conference, former acting chairman of the Kuomintang Lin Junq-tzer, Yu-Lon Chiao, Chairman of Walsin Lihwa, and other Taiwanese guests delivered speeches. The Provincial Department of Science and Technology presented policy measures to build a first-class science and technology innovation ecosystem in Shandong. Shandong and Taiwan enterprises signed project agreements, and the launching ceremony of the film My Land, My Home, inspired by Gao Binghan, one of the 2012 "Touching China" annual figures, was held. Before the conference, attending leaders and guests visited the "Seven Advantages of Weifang" promotional exhibition and the Shandong-Taiwan Enterprise Showcase.

　　The fair was themed "Innovation-Driven, Win-Win Future". During the event, provincial and municipal leaders met with guest representatives. Weifang hosted the Cross-Strait Conference on Sci-Tech Innovation and Industrial Integration as well as six thematic activities in modern agriculture, elderly care and health, high-end chemicals, youth sci-tech innovation, and vocational education. Promotion meetings for the construction of Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zones and the 2025 Dezhou-Taiwan Economic and Trade Exchange & Cooperation Conference were held in Jinan and Dezhou, respectively.
